What the first-run wizard does
1. Checking your device
CPU, RAM, GPU, VRAM, storage, AI runtimes and installed models are scanned. Runtimes are probed, not assumed.
2. Finding your best AI
A smaller model that runs reliably is preferred to a larger one that will run out of memory.
3. Recommended setup
The app shows a recommended model or stack, or explains that no suitable local model was found.
4. Choose
Use the recommendation, choose manually, use optional cloud AI, or continue with extraction only.
5. Test AI
A real capability test is required. AI Ready appears only after the model responds.
6. Ready
The active configuration is shown before you start work.
Grounded document analysis
When a tested local or approved cloud model is active, findings are tied to the imported file. Each substantive finding should show what was identified, where it appears, a short excerpt, and why that excerpt matters. If the file does not contain the answer, the software says so. It does not invent clauses, parties, dates or amounts.

ContractAnalysis.ai is document-analysis software. It is not a lawyer and does not provide legal advice. It does not claim a contract is safe to sign, that a clause is unenforceable, or that you will win a dispute.

FAQ
Does the software assume I already have an AI model installed?
No. On first launch it inspects this device, checks whether a supported local runtime is actually reachable, and lists only models that runtime reports. It does not pretend a model is installed.
Will it download a large model by itself?
No. Recommended models that are not installed are offered with an approximate size. You must approve the download. If storage is insufficient, the app explains that and offers alternatives.
Is extraction-only the same as AI analysis?
No. If no suitable local model is configured, you can continue with extraction-only mode. That extracts text and fields from the file. It is not presented as AI analysis.
Can I use cloud AI instead?
Yes, as an explicit option. Before any document excerpt is sent, the app explains that the text will leave the device and asks you to choose a provider endpoint and API key. Cloud is never the silent default.
