Does it actually use AI?

Yes, when a tested local model or an approved cloud model is active. If no model is configured, the app can still extract text and match passages. That extraction-only mode is not labelled as AI analysis.

Does it use an LLM?

Optional local models are typical instruction-tuned LLMs you install through a runtime such as Ollama. Cloud AI uses an OpenAI-compatible API you configure. The app never pretends a model is running.

Yes, when a supported local runtime is reachable and a compatible model has been tested. The first-run wizard scans this device and recommends a model that can fit.

Are documents uploaded to the cloud?

Not by default. Local mode keeps document work on the device. Cloud AI sends excerpts only after you approve a provider and key.

Yes. If a supported local runtime lists a model, the app can use it after a successful test. The catalog is platform-aware: desktop models are not assumed to run on phones. Yes. Ask Anything is the central workspace. Upload one file or a set, then ask in plain English. Answers should cite the source.

The consistency checker compares extracted fields such as amounts, dates and parties across selected files and cites both sides. It does not decide which value is correct.

Yes, when those values appear in the extracted text. If they do not, the app says they were not identified.

It lists who / must / when rows when obligation-style language is found, each with a source citation. Export is available from the workspace.
